Charging

Input voltage is DC 5V/1A, and charging takes approximately 2 hours. The light is red while charging and turns white when charging is complete. A prompt sound indicates a low battery.

Set up and connect

Download the app

Scan the QR code or download the app from your app store. You can search for "byteengine translator" in the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store.

Turn on the translator

Long-press the Power button to turn on the translator (you'll hear a prompt sound). After powering on, the blue light flashes, indicating that it is waiting for Bluetooth pairing.

Select the device in the app

After opening the app, tap the homepage to select Trbox X9, which redirects you to your phone's Bluetooth settings or device list.

Connect over Bluetooth

Turn on your phone's Bluetooth, then find and connect to the Trbox X9 device. You'll hear a prompt sound once the connection is successful, and the Bluetooth indicator light becomes steady.

Confirm the connection

Back in the app, it displays Connection Successful and redirects you to the translation interface. The device's indicator light turns solid green.

What the light color means

The light changes from blue to green: a blue light means Bluetooth is connected, and a green light means the link with the app succeeded and translation is available. If the connection is unsuccessful, close the app and repeat the steps above to try again.

Choose the languages

Select the translation languages for the Microphone button and the ME button on the translator, as prompted by the app.

How to translate

  1. To improve voice recognition accuracy, after pressing the translation button on the translator, wait until the colorful light ring lights up before speaking. Speak clearly, loudly, and in a standard voice. Release the button after each sentence — otherwise recognition may be incomplete — and try to keep each sentence under 15 seconds.
  2. After you release the button, the translation is processed automatically and the result is announced. Translation speed depends on the network, so ensure a stable internet connection.
  3. Tap the translation conversation history in the translation interface to have a result read out again.
  4. Adjust the volume using the volume buttons on your phone and on the translator. The translator emits a prompt sound when it reaches maximum volume, and there is no sound at minimum volume.

Photo translation

Select the language you need to translate, take a picture of the target, and the translation results are displayed.

Offline translation

In offline translation mode, download the offline text and offline voice files from the app. Note that these two files are separate and both need to be downloaded.

In offline translation mode you can use the translator without a network, and when a network is available it will not use the current network or data.

Common issues

Device won't power on

  1. Try charging it and check whether the charging indicator light is red.
  2. Long-press the power button for 10 seconds to reset the translator.

App cannot connect to the translator

  1. Make sure you are connecting correctly according to the instructions.
  2. Make sure the translator is not connected to another phone. If it is, disconnect it. If no other phones are connected, go to the Bluetooth menu in your phone's settings, tap paired devices, unpair and delete the Bluetooth name, then reconnect by following the prompts.
  3. Try restarting the app or your phone.

No translation results announced

  1. When the network signal is poor, translation may be sluggish. We recommend enabling airplane mode and restarting the network.
